BIO: Susan Bassal

Susan was raised in the hills of East Tennessee and comes to ART with over seven years of television experience.

She worked for CNN's White House Unit serving as the youngest member of the White House Press Corps at that time. She covered Presidents Clinton and Bush. She landed interviews with Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, Arab League head Amr Moussa, as well as several Senators & Congressmen She was an on-air correspondent for CNN Radio, had several stories published on CNN.com, and wrote over 40 wires.

Susan covered the UN Peace Summit, Florida Recount, and President Bush's inauguration. She had the opportunity to work with Senior National Correspondent John King, former White House Correspondent Major Garrett, and Correspondent Andrea Koppel. She witnessed history in the making during the Camp David accords and the Emergency Middle East Peace Summit in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt and during interactions with countless senior government officials.

She recently completed a J.D. from the University of Tennessee where she attended with a full scholarship. She earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Spanish, graduating first in the College of Arts and Sciences with a Rotary Ambassadorial scholarship and honors from her department, school, and the Tennessee State Legislature.

In college, she worked for a CBS affiliate, and was an anchor for WETS News at Five Station for four years. One of Susan's news stories won a regional Society of Professional Journalists' award.
